“More Recess, Please”

Permian Kids’s founder, Summer Belloni, is advocating for more recess in local public elementary schools. Here is the local coverage in the MRT from

Tuesday, January 2, 2018.

“One fifteen  (15) minute break per day in a child’s long 7 1/2 hour school day isn’t enough to promote a healthy mind and body,” Belloni said.

After considering the research for themselves, several Midland schools have already made changes, and we’re hearing more will be evaluating their recess schedules in January 2018!

We encourage all parents to schedule a meeting with their child’s principal and offer support for more recess.

Schools such as Fasken, Yarborough, Fannin, Carver, and Scharbauer have already, or will be considering new models to incorporate additional recess time for some grade levels.
