What is a successful education? Libby Landry, founder of West Texas Homeschool Co-op, an
alternative education business, will be our next Brown Bag Speaker at the Sibley Nature Center
on Thursday, September 19 from noon-1:00 PM. Libby will speak about education alternatives,
including the topics of play, nature, and choice-based learning.
Prior to coming to Midland, Libby was a key staff member for the Village Home Education
Resource Center in Beaverton, Oregon. Before becoming a mom, Libby had a career in
marketing and sales, and business and revenue management in the travel industry. She has
held management and director level positions with Carnival Cruise Lines, InterContinental
Hotels, Hilton, and Holiday Inn. This marriage of work experience and her passion for
revolutionizing the homeschool education experience has proved to be on point with the
success of the West Texas Homeschool Co-op.
Libby is a member of the Alliance for Self-Directed Education, the Alternative Education
Resource Organization, and serves on the Garden Committee at Sibley Nature Center. She is
also the foreman of Glass Ranch north of Midland where she resides with her husband and

I had to tell the older kids to keep it moving because they just sit at the bottom of the slide. My 2 year old went down head first and some older kid sitting at the bottom had his feet up the slide and kicked my son in the face.

Thank heavens it’s not closed for the year. My kids cried when we came by today.

PLEASE Get A Lifeguard!!!! Im a Texas State Certified Children's Director. I redirect children while im their for the safety of my own child and look out for the wellbeing of others. Please get a Lifeguard!!! Children sitting at the bottom of the slide not allowing the water to drain properly. Wrestling and dunking their Friends.7-10 year olds. Then the children coming down the slide caint catch their breath quick enough because their is to many children at the bottom and the water level is to high. And these are 7-5year olds not to mention younger children. Then children trying to climb up the slide while children are trying to go up just an accident waiting to happen. The top of the ship sprayer children climbeding up to sit and spray it 8-10 years olds. God forbid they dont slip and fall!! They blue slides little children staying at the bottom can get hurt. I asked a lady yesterday "can you help your children not be at the bottom of the slide they are going to get hurt. Her response "ive tried they dont listen" ages 3-5 years old. Please get a Lifeguard it is for the wellbeing of our children and to keep our new attraction for years to come for our community!!

This splash pad desperately needs a lifeguard. No one watches their children and kids just pile up at the ends of the slides. No one can even use them, and when they do they take the risk of drowning because they can’t get through.

Already damaged?? These parks need to charge so the taxpayers won’t be always paying for damage that is done by kids that have not been taught to respect others property. Beal park is always trashed and vandalized. And tax money is used to fix that.

When does it close for the year?

And who couldn’t have seen this coming?

On Tuesday there was a near drowning because of the kiddos sitting at the bottom of the slide. If it wasn’t for me getting over there pulling the kiddo out. The parent was on the phone and didn’t even notice their kid was under water. not to mention there was a big kid was thinking it was funny.

So sorry that there can't be something nice without someone messing it up. Sometimes they don't even obey rules.😥

Did we break it already?? 😬

I give it two years until it’s destroyed.

Code brown?

What are hours for the ongoing water?

Is there a complete shut down day for the splash pad ? Anyone know?

Is there anything you can do about kids just sitting at the bottom of the orange slide??? No one can even go down the slide because kids are just hanging out in it at the bottom like it's a hot tub. Someone's little one almost drowned the other day because of all the bodies making the water level in that slide rise, and she couldn't get to him due to all the kids in the way.
