As a teacher and mom I’ve always appreciated their focus on technique and learning art, while at the same time enjoying the process, focusing on the medium, and learning something at the same time!

Check out their homepage (scroll down) to download the freebies to see what she’s offering – FREE

You have to act quick though if you want the best deals.  THIS week they are celebrating their 10 year anniversary and the owner is offering freebies all week, along with significantly discounted bundles.  She doesn’t ever offer this type of discount – I’ve been following her for years and I’ve never seen this significant of sale.  The truth is – she doesn’t have to because the quality is so good people who love her pay top $dollar$ for her lessons!

So…. that’s it.  Go check it out and share with a friend if you want.

Oh… and lastly, have fun making art!

Hurricane Harvey – Help the Kids in South Texas!

Our friends in South Texas need our help now more than ever.

We know our community of moms and families want to help victims of Hurricane Harvey.

A local mom, Emily Embrey, reached out to us with a request – and we said YES!

Now we need your help!

Permian Kids is joining forces as a proud community partner of BJ Services, Rockhounds, and Crisis Response International to advertise, collect, and donate supplies for families affected by Hurricane Harvey.

All community partners are asking you to do a few things:
1. SHARE the word that we are collecting supplies
2. Shop, collect, gather needed supplies on the list
3. Bring supplies to the Rockhounds stadium during the times listed (Today thru Friday!)

Donation trucks will be near the Rockhounds Ticket Office.  We’re asking for your help NOW.  We need donations this week.  Collection days are today thru Friday.  We’re hoping to have the trucks loaded up and heading to families on Saturday.

Right now donations of diapers, formula, and babyfood are desperately needed. We recommend no glass jars if possible as they are more likely to break and heavier to transport. All donations are appreciated.

Permian Basin Rehab Center

Permian Basin Rehab Center in Odessa

PBRC is located at 620 N. Alleghaney Avenue, Odessa, TX 79761 and can be reached by phone at (432) 332-8244.

Since 1953, the Permian Basin Rehab Center (PBRC) has served thousands of patients of all ages and abilities who find themselves in need. The PBRC is the Permian Basin’s only comprehensive, non-profit, multidisciplinary rehabilitation facility that provides speech, physical, occupation therapy and hearing/audiology services. The therapists of the PBRC reach a broad cross-section of the community and bring positive change into the lives of countless individuals. Therapy services are fully coordinated, and bi-lingual employees enrich these services.

Permian Basin Rehab Center’s primary focus is to help any child or adult with a disability or injury who can benefit from our outpatient services. A partial listing of needs served include:

Communication disorders – speech, language, hearing, and voice

Neurological Disorders – stroke, head injuries, spinal cord injuries, Parkinson’s disease, and cerebral palsy

Orthopedic Disorders – injury to bone joint and birth defects

Other – lymphedema, learning disabilities, feeding disorders, dysphagia, mental retardation, developmentally delay, down syndrome, and autism

The PBRC offers an Assistance Program and social worker services to make sure that no one is turned away based on ability to pay or limited access to transportation.  The Assistance Program is made possible through community donations and fundraising efforts throughout the year. The PBRC is a preferred provider for most insurance companies including Medicare and Medicaid.

In addition to the therapies outlined above, PBRC also offers several clinics for people that require special services that include the Developmental Clinic and the Cleft Palette Clinic.

The Developmental Clinic is designed to monitor development after the baby is discharged from the NICU.  Initial assessments are completed in physical therapy, speech therapy, occupational therapy and audiology.  Once initial assessments are completed, the patient is eligible to begin attending the developmental clinic.

The Cleft Palette Clinic allows each family to meet with a social worker and each patient receives a speech screening, a hearing screening and a consultation with the surgeon.  Education, resources and recommendations are provided during the appointment. To save families the strain of extensive travel, PBRC provides many of the pre and post operation scheduling and appointments in Odessa at the clinic.

About

Permian Kids is a resource guide for parents and families in Midland, TX and the greater Permian Basin region. With many families moving into Midland, we aim to help ease the transition when resettling your family in a new location.  We’ll be focusing on schools, community education organizations, opportunities to become involved/volunteer, events to attend, and overall fun, family entertainment.

Permian Kids is founded by a “Midland Mom” who has moved a lot! I know how fortunate I am to have benefited from online resources and social networks when transitioning to a new city.  I’ve lived in 6 states and moved countless times (we think we counted 20!). I hope to provide you with opportunities to “get out there” and become involved as much or as little as you desire.

Welcome to Midland!
