Come learn the basics of archery so you can grip, aim, and release to hit the bull’s-eye! You’ll also learn the history of archery AND make your own arrow you can take home!

Rockhound’s Baseball Camp (Midland Rockhounds)


We will group campers with other players of similar age and experience. Each group will rotate through different stations that will cover different aspects of the game. The camper to staff ratio will be approximately 10:1 ensuring that each child will receive individual instruction.

The Odessa Regional Medical Center Sports Medicine/ Midland RockHounds Baseball Camp is a great way for young players to learn the fundamentals of the game and gain confidence in their abilities as they interact with professional athletes.

Camp days will run from Monday, June 12 – Wednesday, June 14th. Cost is $140. Time: 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. The exception will be the first day when check-in will require you to report at 8:30 a.m. Each day will conclude with a lunch served by the RockHounds staff. In addition, each camper will receive a commemorative t-shirt, a certificate of participation and a free picnic ticket ($17.00 value) to the Wednesday, June 22nd RockHounds game. The cost per camper is $140.00. The Midland RockHounds must receive full payment by the opening of the camp.

Who’s ready for a round of golf!? Let us teach you the fundamentals of the game (putting, chipping, and full swing) and then we’ll get you out on the course to play!

Movies in the Park is one of the main annual attractions that has become a tradition with most families in Odessa. The movies are hosted throughout the summer months and attract hundreds of families to the parks each year to watch some of the best movies available. Skip the lines at the Theaters and enjoy FREE movies. Don’t forget about something to snack on, as we have concessions available at each movie. You and your family will NOT want to miss out on this year’s season!!

Monahans Sandhills State Park – Anniversary Celebration

MONAHANS— Monahans Sandhills State Park is celebrating its 60th anniversary this Saturday with a day filled with fun events in the dunes. The free event begins at 9 a.m. and continues on until 10 p.m.

The birthday celebration will begin at 9 a.m. and will run until 3 p.m. with sand sledding, rock art paint making, geocaching, prehistoric hunting techniques, solar observing, animal tracking, Dutch oven cooking demo, water slide and bounce houses, just to name a few.

Three sand art classes are scheduled throughout the day and will begin at 9:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.

The evening festivities will kick back up after dark with a zombie survival hike at 7 p.m., cowboy music and stories at 8 p.m. with Glenn Moreland and Washtub Jerry of Fort Davis, stargazing and food trucks.

Family Fridays (Museum of the Southwest)

GATHER THE WHOLE FAMILY and enjoy educational, fun activities based on themes that foster creativity and a love of learning. Sessions are designed for children ages 4 through 12 years old; though the whole family is encouraged to join in on the merriment as a variety of activities will be offered simultaneously. All Family Friday “come and go” sessions are held in the Blakemore Planetarium’s Brown Science Center, located on the Museum grounds, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and are free with paid admission or Museum membership.

Family Fridays are made possible by The Hendrix Wood Family Foundation and Nancy & Richard Gibson.

Members of the Museum of the Southwest enjoy free admission.
Non-members fee is:
$5 for adults and young adults age 12 and above
$3 for children ages 3 to 11, seniors over the age of 65 and active military personnel
Children ages 2 and under are free

Book drive runs from June 5th-July 28th

Accio Books! is an annual worldwide book drive started by the Harry Potter Alliance that has given over 315,000 books away to communities in need since 2009.  Teens can donate books and earn points for their llvermorny House (from Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them).  At the end of the summer, the house who donates the most books will win a special pizza party with a showing of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find them at the Centennial Library.  Donation boxes are located in the Centennial Library Bat Cave.
